Grade | Evidence Required |
Student - Stud. I.S.N.S.W. - Enrolled in an Institution accredited/recognised surveying or spatial science educational program in Australia.

Affiliate - Affil. I.S.N.S.W. - Engaged in the profession of surveying or other related field.
- Hold an approved qualification from a tertiary institution.
Or - At least 30 years of age.
- Have at least five years of satisfactory practical experience.

Associate - Assoc. I.S.N.S.W. - Hold an approved Associate diploma or its equivalent in a discipline of surveying.
Or - In the opinion of the Committee their professional standing, by virtue of their knowledge and experience, is not less than that of a person eligible for admission under the provisions of the preceding part of the clause.
Or - That they are engaged in the profession of surveying and hold an approved qualification equivalent to an Associate Diploma in a discipline other than surveying.

Graduate - Grad. I.S.N.S.W. - Hold an approved Bachelor degree award in a discipline of surveying, or other related field, which was gained within the last four (4) years.

Member - M.I.S. N.S.W. - Hold an approved Bachelor degree award in a discipline of surveying.
Or - Hold a Certificate of Competency in surveying, dated prior to 1 January 1988.
And/Or - Professionally Registered, licensed or authorised by an authority recognised by the Institution. And experience. (Note)
Or - They are the holder of an approved Degree award in a discipline other than surveying and by virtue of their training and experience have attained a status in the profession equivalent to that of a person eligible for admission under the provisions of the preceding sub-clause. (Note)
Or - They are the holder of an approved Associate Diploma award in a discipline of surveying or its equivalent; that they have a minimum of fifteen (15) years practical experience and by virtue of their training and experience in surveying have attained in the opinion of the Committee a status in the profession equal to that of a person eligible for admission or advancement under the provisions of the preceding parts of the Clause.

Fellow - F.I.S. N.S.W. - Elected by the Committee from nominations of Institution members who have rendered conspicuous service to the profession.
| Not less than six (6) corporate members shall sign proposal for nomination to Fellow. |
Honorary Fellow - Hon. F.I.S. N.S.W. - Either distinguished persons who from their position have been or are being of assistance to the Institution in carrying out its aims, or persons eminent in science, experienced in pursuits kindred to those of the members of the Institution.
Or - Have been a Fellow of not less than ten (10) years standing who have rendered distinguished service to the Institution and the profession.

Note:
In addition have at least two (2) years satisfactory practical surveying experience, which must have been gained in continuous periods of not less than six (6) months. | |
