In 2000 the Institution identified a need to provide members with an opportunity to attain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points from a single event. Remotely located members were having difficulty in gaining the necessary number of points, with working life becoming busier and more demanding.
Originally known as the Remote Members Seminar, it evolved into the Australia Day Seminar, and prior to FIG2010, the South East Australian Surveying and Spatial Information Congress (SEASSiC).
Returning in 2011, to its format of providing members with an opportunity to come to Sydney for Australia Day and a two day CPD event, has ensured the Institution continues to offer a quality, value for money education and networking experience.
The event also includes a dinner with eminent speaker to further promote the networking and camaraderie that is part of the Surveying ethos.
It is an event which showcases the different abilities and interests of surveyors.
Common topics in the past have included:-
- Engineering design.
- Project management.
