Survey Practice & LegislativeThe Survey Practice and Legislative Sub Committee was formally created: - - To develop and actively promote good surveying practice within the profession.
- To consult with government departments, educational institutions and
professional organisations on survey practice matters. - To examine surveying and other appropriate legislation and make
recommendations to the Committee in regard to any proposed amendments. - To promptly investigate complaints against Members relating to their
professional or surveying practice and make recommendations to the Committee in regard to such matters. - To provide advice to the Committee and Members to avoid poor surveying
practice highlighted by investigations. - To recommend training programs to address matters of poor surveying practice.
- To make recommendations in regard to the training of surveyors.
- To mediate disputes between the public and Members, or between Members.
- To liaise with the Board of Surveying & Spatial Information regarding
complaints concerning alleged breaches of the Surveying Act. - To report to the Committee on matters pertinent to the Code of Ethics or any
other matters which have the potential to bring the Institution and/or Profession into disrepute.
