Survey Practice & Legislative

The Survey Practice and Legislative Sub Committee was formally created: -

• To develop and actively promote good surveying practice within the profession.
• To consult with government departments, educational institutions and
  professional organisations on survey practice matters.
• To examine surveying and other appropriate legislation and make
  recommendations to the Committee in regard to any proposed amendments.
• To promptly investigate complaints against Members relating to their
  professional or surveying practice and make recommendations to the Committee in regard to such matters.
• To provide advice to the Committee and Members to avoid poor surveying
  practice highlighted by investigations.
• To recommend training programs to address matters of poor surveying practice.
• To make recommendations in regard to the training of surveyors.
• To mediate disputes between the public and Members, or between Members.
• To liaise with the Board of Surveying & Spatial Information regarding
  complaints concerning alleged breaches of the Surveying Act.
• To report to the Committee on matters pertinent to the Code of Ethics or any
  other matters which have the potential to bring the Institution and/or Profession
  into disrepute.
